Bariatric Surgery is a Real, Proven, Viable Solution for Weight Loss.

The truth is there is a stigma surrounding bariatric surgery – and we whole-heartedly believe there shouldn’t be. For many people, it’s the right way to maximize their health.

Here's the reality:

  • For decades we have accepted the idea that obesity is a result of poor self-control and the simple solution is to eat less and exercise more.
  • For many the path to substantial and sustainable weight loss is a difficult one – diet and exercise alone repeatedly fail.
  • Bariatric surgery has been seen as both a cop-out and a quick fix, and a suitable punishment for those that have 'let themselves go'.
  • In the past decade, bariatric surgery has remarkably improved in safety. During this time, we've also learned that bariatric surgery's most powerful mechanism is not restriction of food or calorie absorption, but the neuro-hormonal changes it offers due to 'gut' rearrangement.

“We have to accept that the issue of obesity goes far beyond personal habits and choices, that fat storage is not just an issue of ability, desire, and wherewithal. We must believe in obese people’s right to legitimate medical intervention. Bariatric surgery should be a real option for those of us whose lives are limited because of our weight, who are experiencing ill health, or have been warned by trustworthy doctors that we are heading in that direction.”
– Jamie J. Palfrey

At Cut Gut, we believe that:

  • Obesity is a disease of fat storage.
  • Bariatric surgery should be a mainstream option and, as such, educational information and financial assistance should be made available to the 650 million people in the world currently struggling with obesity.
